1950 TO 1970 STYLE
This four-room boutique hotel occupies a 100-year-old grey-and-beige Japanese-era Baroque building in Dadaocheng, just steps away from Yongle Market and the Xiahai City God Temple. While the facade has remained unchanged since the 1960s, the inside has been lovingly restored by the group of friends who run the space.

Open the wooden sliding doors to discover the ground floor café which includes a gift shop that sells records, phonographs, ceramics, handwoven bags and other whimsical items. The rooms, on the second and third floors, are outfitted to transport guests to a bygone Taipei. Antique furniture collected from around the world abounds, including daybeds from the 1950s and Grundig Ball speakers from the 1970s.

Though each room is individually decorated, all four come with Vinyl record players, as well as colourful printed carpets and framed vintage posters. All of this makes guests feel as if they've stepped into a movie set while the rooms with wood-top study desks and lamps have a scholarly vibe. The terrazzo and red-tile floor halls are equally amusing to wander and in the middle of the building is a long air well.
